H.E. Dr. Chea Serey, Governor of the National Bank of Cambodia, received a delegation from the ASEAN+3 Macroeconomic Research Office (AMRO), led by Mr. Yasuto Watanabe, on 28 April 2026 at the National Bank of Cambodia.
During the meeting, the head of delegation highlighted the resilience of Cambodia’s economy amid ongoing global challenges, including geopolitical tensions and rising fuel prices. He noted that emerging risks may moderately affect Cambodia’s growth momentum; however, the economy continues to demonstrate solid growth, supported by strong fundamentals and effective policy responses. He also emphasized the importance of maintaining confidence in the banking system, safeguarding asset quality, and implementing appropriate policy measures.
In response, H.E. expressed appreciation for the constructive exchange of views on Cambodia’s economic outlook and shared updates on the Royal Government’s policies related to energy sector development, with a focus on ensuring adequate supply and promoting clean energy key factors in mitigating the impact of rising fuel prices. In addition, H.E. highlighted policy priorities, including the expansion of credit to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and the promotion of sustainable finance.
