On March 30, 2026, H.E. Dr. Chea Serey, Governor of the National Bank of Cambodia (NBC), presided over the official launch of cross-border QR payment between the Kingdom of Cambodia and the Republic of Singapore (Phase 2: Singapore Scans KHQR Code), in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
This official launch was attended by approximately 190 participants, including representatives from the Embassy of the Republic of Singapore in Phnom Pehn, the Ministry of Tourism, The Cambodia Hotel Association, Cambodia Restaurant Association, Association of Bank in Cambodia, Cambodia Microfinance Association, Cambodian Association of Finance and Technology as well as Banks and Financial Institutions of Cambodia and Singapore.
The Phase 2 marks a significant milestone in advancing digital cross-border payment connectivity, in line with ASEAN’s vision of fostering regional payment integration. It also promotes the use of local currencies in transactions, thereby facilitating trade, investment, and tourism between the two countries, while contributing to supporting sustainable economic growth.
