H.E. Dr. Chea Serey, Governor of the National Bank of Cambodia (NBC), received a courtesy visit from a delegation of the world bank led by Carlos Felipe Jaramillo, Vice President for the East Asia and Pacific Region, on March 17, 2026, at the NBC’s Wat Phnom Building.

During the meeting, Mr. Jaramillo highlighted Cambodia’s economic potential across several key sectors and noted the country’s ongoing progress in infrastructure development. He also expressed appreciation for the continued cooperation between the World Bank and the National Bank of Cambodia.

In response, H.E. Dr. Chea Serey highlighted the role of the banking sector in supporting Cambodia’s economic development, including promoting access to financial services, maintaining exchange rate stability, and ensuring the soundness of the banking system. She also shared perspectives on emerging challenges and global economic developments, such as fluctuations in international oil prices. In addition, the Governor expressed appreciation for the World Bank’s continued technical support and cooperation in strengthening regulatory frameworks and developing national strategies related to the financial sector.

Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to further enhancing cooperation between the two institutions to support Cambodia’s sustainable economic development. Following the meeting, the World Bank delegation visited the SOSORO Museum to learn more about the country’s financial history and developments.
