H.E. Dr. Chea Serey, Governor of the National Bank of Cambodia, met with Mr. Sun Yu, CEO of the Bank of China in Hong Kong, a partner bank of the National Bank of Cambodia for the cash management of the US dollar, on the afternoon of July 23, 2024 in Beijing, China.
During the meeting, the Governor requested the Bank of China in Hong Kong to facilitate and ease the criteria for imposing US dollars from Cambodia as well as the fee. In response, Mr. Sun Yu accepted the request and confirmed that he would discuss the matter with his team.
H.E. Dr. Governor also met with H.E. Dr. Soeung Rathchavy, Ambassador of Cambodia to the People’s Republic of China to discuss cooperation between the National Bank of Cambodia and China on payment systems, especially on the promotion of Chinese tourists to use the UnionPay to scan KHQR when traveling to Cambodia.
