On 28 April 2021, Her Excellency CHEA SEREY, Assistant Governor and Director General of Central Banking of the National Bank of Cambodia, attended as a guest of honor in the APIX virtual MOU signing ceremony between ASEAN Financial Innovation Network (AFIN) and Cambodian Association of Finance and Technology (CAFT). APIX (The Application Programming Interface Exchange Platform) is the world’s first cross border, open architecture API market place and sandbox platform for collaboration between Fintech and Financial Institutions in which participants can integrate and test applications with each other via a cloud-based architecture. This MOU signing will provide an opportunity for Fintech industries and banking and financial institutions in Cambodia and Singapore to participate into a smart APIX platform in order to test new innovative solutions with each other via a cloud-based architecture before introducing to the market. In the remark, H.E emphasized the contribution of Fintech to the development of the banking sector in Cambodia with the introduction of new innovative banking services through digital means in response to the market demand in particular, in the context of Covid-19 pandemic. In addition, the MOU signing also aligns with NBC’s policy in promoting Fintech, enhancing cross-border connectivity and strengthening market environment for regional financial innovation.
