2015-06-02

On June 2, 2015, the National Bank of Cambodia (NBC) and the National Institute of Statistics (NIS) of the Ministry of Planning signed an agreement to cooperate on the Foreign Direct Investment Survey (FDIS) 2015. The purpose of the survey is three fold: (1) to collect information on Foreign Direct Investment in Cambodia (2) to collect information on Cambodian overseas investment and (3) improve the overall quality of FDI data collection.
The initiative was created by both the NBC and NIS and will be funded by both institutions. Through this partnership, the survey will be conducted by both the NBC and NIS. The results of the survey, to be published before the end of the year, will demonstrate the potential of the Cambodian economy. In particular, it will outline which sectors are the most promising for investors. Overall, the survey aims to attract more foreign direct investment in Cambodia and strengthen economic growth in the kingdom.
Present at the signing ceremony were representatives from the NBC, H.E. Chea Serey, representative from the NIS, H.E. Hang Lina, and representatives from the Ministry of Economy and Finance, the ASEAN Secretariat, the IMF, World Bank, and other related ministries. Development partners such as the ASEAN Secretariat, IMF and World Bank, have all congratulated both institutions on the new initiative.
