H.E. Dr. Chea Serey, Governor of the National Bank of Cambodia, received a courtesy call by H.E. Dr. Park Jung-Wook, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to the Kingdom of Cambodia

H.E. Dr. Chea Serey, Governor of the National Bank of Cambodia, received a courtesy call by H.E. Dr. Park Jung-Wook, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to the Kingdom of Cambodia, on August 14, 2024 at the National Bank of Cambodia.  

At the meeting, H.E. Ambassador praised the rapid growth of the Cambodian banking sector, noting the development of the payment system through scanning QR code and emphasizing the priority of promoting more Korean investment into Cambodia financial sector. He added that Korea is the second largest foreign investor in Cambodia, with more than 40% of Korea's total capital invested in the country’s banking and finance. In addition, H.E. also requested for further cooperation, especially in the fields of banking and finance, as well as cybersecurity. 

In response, H.E. Governor thanked the Korean side for its good cooperation such as technical assistance and training, which has significantly contributed to strengthening the effectiveness of the monetary policy implementation. In addition, she also mentioned the close cooperation between the National Bank of Cambodia and the Korea Deposit Insurance Corporation (KDIC) on deposit protection. 

Overall, H.E. Governor and H.E. Ambassador highly appreciated the progress made by the two sides and pledged to further strengthen bilateral cooperation between the Kingdom of Cambodia and the Republic of Korea.
